Bill, who has “done” ‘is stretch for stoushin’ cops and ‘spens’ ‘is time getting’ on the stick with Ginger Mick…. Meets Doreen and is reformed into a Sentimental Bloke – much to the digust of his mate, and to the delight of Rose, who would like Ginger to have some finer feeling too.
Reform is not easy because intervention by Mr. Smithers, Charlie Skewes, Uncle Percy and the back-alley larrikins of industrial Melbourne. But thanks to some good luck at the races, and some fun on the beach on Sunday arvo, wedded bliss is found, and the tough coves gets their just desserts.
